Reviews:
“Spithood may not be on track to anywhere near legendary; however, it’s a satisfying appetizer for any Friday night fright flick movie marathon. That said, this probably isn’t a watch that’ll captivate anyone outside genre devotees. Despite an admirable effort, which may lead to bigger and better things, Spithood is an ordinary slasher flick.” Film Obsessive
“Nettle is even able to deliver an unexpectedly emotional twist, as the climax will have tears pouring out your slit throat. It also helps to have identified with all the different yet familiar types of folks onscreen before they start being brutally murdered. Nettle knows full well that identification is the salt on top of the slaughter, as he gets the audience rooting for his characters to live instead of hoping they die.” 8/10 Film Threat
“Atkins is a genuinely threatening and ultra-aggressive presence. He is fast and furious, and it leads to a couple of well-staged chase scenes by first-time director Tim Pine— which are always the icing on the cake for any slasher movie. Arguably, again, the explanation for Atkins’ escape and subsequent revelations may not hold up to too much scrutiny, but the production wins points for throwing those curveballs in there.” ★★★ Hysteria Lives
“Its likeable characters, solid pacing, and well-executed suspense sequences help to offset its script issues and lack of gore. The film is also a promising debut for director Tim Pine, whose efforts behind the camera show an ability to work with limited resources and still produce a solid film. In the end, Spithood may not break new ground in its genre, but it offers enough thrills and chills to satisfy fans.” ★★★ Voices from the Balcony
