MANILA, Philippines—Filipino center Kai Sotto was nothing but grateful as the Koshigaya Alphas’ Japan B.League season came to an end.

Sotto had a positive outlook despite missing majority of the Alphas’ campaign due to an ACL injury.

“Only played half of the season because of my ACL injury, but still had so many memorable moments. I always remind myself that there’s always so much to be thankful for,” wrote Sotto on Instagram Monday.

“From me playing on the court, to sitting in the sidelines cheering for my teammates, the fans never changed the way they loved and supported me.”

Sotto, who turns 23 on Sunday, suffered a torn ACL in his left knee in January during a game against the Mikawa Seahorses.

The injury couldn’t have come at a worse time for Sotto, who was playing his best basketball prior to getting hurt averaging 13.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.

“This season I felt I was getting to that next big step, but I hit a big road bump. But it won’t stop me from working because I know God has a better plan for me.”

The injury also forced Sotto to miss action for Gilas Pilipinas, which is expected to miss his services anew in the 2025 Fiba Asia Cup in August.

With Sotto sidelined, the Alphas finished the season with a 19-41 record.
