Today on the blog we’re welcoming back Mo Trezise (@heal.thygoddess). Mo is Lauryn’s go-to holistic facialist in San Diego because she is a master in massage and specializes in TCM.

It’s no wonder Lauryn has been obsessed with Mo’s facials for 8 years. She is all about holistic face lifts, meaning lymphatic drainage, intraoral buccal massage, muscle manipulation and gua sha. Right up Lauryn’s ally. An ours!

Get ready for a little Q&A with Mo, where she’s telling us why she loves facial massage, the benefits, how she does it at home with her hands, and how to do it using your Mint Roller to contour, tighten and depuff.

Let’s welcome Mo to the blog.

How to Do Lymphatic Drainage Facials at Home: Step-by-Step With The Mint Roller

You are a master facialist and love facial massage. Why?

Mo Trezise: I am deeply passionate about facial massage because, through my practice, I’ve seen firsthand how profoundly it can impact every aspect of a client’s face. By carefully manipulating the layers of soft tissue and working with the musculoskeletal structure, we can reshape facial contours, release muscle tension, and enhance the overall facial appearance, allowing space for one’s own natural beauty to shine through.

The incredible thing is that the power of touch also allows us to improve skin texture and quality- no fancy machines or expensive creams required! That’s part of the beauty of facial massage, it’s a holistic and non-invasive way of rejuvenating the skin and muscles while promoting lasting transformations to the face.

How do you practice facial massage on yourself, at home?

MT: I practice facial massage by simply incorporating it into every step of my skincare routine with intention. I make sure to take my time with each product, whether it’s a cleanser or an oil.

Use gentle upward strokes for lifting (on the décollete, neck, and face) and work small sections with repetitive movements until every inch of skin is covered or the product has been fully absorbed.

I’ll spend extra time on particularly tense areas (like the jaw), with deep circular motions to release any excess tension. The key is being present and mindful with each motion, really feeling how the product and pressure interact with my face. Massaging my skincare daily creates the perfect space for me to connect with myself and give my face a little extra love.

The Mint Roller is a versatile tool that we love to bring everywhere. How do you use it?

MT: I like to use the Mint Roller when I’m traveling in an unconventional way- warmed up!

I run it under hot water from the faucet and then I proceed with using it to follow the lymphatic pathways of the face. If you don’t know them, the key is to go down the sides of the neck (to start) and then once you get to the face, roll from the center of the face outwards, working in rows from the jawline to the forehead.

I suggest repeating each row again from the forehead down again, and down the neck. I find that the layers of soft tissue generally respond well to heat, especially in terms of lymphatic drainage and it’s calming for the central nervous system. The heat + gentle rolling really help melt away any tension and drain lymph.
