Depression and Exhaustion For Starters.
These are two things that can debilitate a writer. This one anyway. Greetings sports fans and welcome back to Vegas Valley Sports Beat that fiesty little sports column that takes a licking and keeps on ticking. It is a lovely evening here in the lush Las Vegas valley region.
Like so many of my fellow American’s and people around the globe, I’ve lost friends and family this past year to Covid-19, or the China Virus as Joe Biden doesn’t want anyone to say. If we can have a Brazillian, and South African variant then it must precede it that there is a China Virus that parented them. It damn sure didn’t come from a place called Covid-19. Racism has nothing to do with it, if it does them the racists need to stop persecuting Latinos in Brazil and South Africa with the Brazilian, and South African strain designations. Just to name two of them.
But I digress.
I have been experiencing technical difficulties that I don’t fully understand, but what I do understand is that when I’ve tried to write the past few weeks I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I love writing this column, and I hope to always write it until I lay my pen down for the last time, however, when I don’t feel like writing I simply cannot bring myself to do so no matter how willing the spirit is the flesh says forget it. I’m working my way up out of it little by little and I am making progress as you all can see.
Just like everyone else on the planet, I have feet of clay and they have been difficult to walk upon since the beginning of the new year. When something like this happens the best you can do is take it one step at a time and that’s what I’ve been doing. Now here we are, back in the saddle again, and ready to ride.
The battle continues to rage between the sexes over the rights of biological females in sports being usurped by biological males who, finding themselves unable to compete with other men, have been competing as women and this has turned the sporting world upside down. I couldn’t care less what anyone does with their life, or how they self-identify. It’s about nothing more than fairness, and equality.
Can we not agree that every individual who dedicates their lives, sacrificing many of the things we take for granted like staying up late and having desert to the pursuit of excellence in anything deserves to have a level playing field upon which to compete.
The issue is about rights and about what’s right and what’s wrong in the eyes of any right-thinking individual. Nobody can tell me that if the situation was reversed and women were dominating men’s sports there would not be holy Hell to pay for it.
Men and women are not built the same way and there’s simply no way that women will be able to compete against cross-gender athletes. If as these men-women claim they identify as women then how is it they have zero compassion for the deliberate disenfranchisement of every female athlete in sports at the moment?
It was men that segregated women from sports in the first place, and now they see a chance at cheaply-won glory bought by doing no more than saying, man, I feel like a woman. As a sports writer, I have to call foul on that one.
Where are biological females supposed to compete in athletics now? On video games? Because that’s the only place they really can compete with biological men in sports. Everybody knows it because men have drummed that into their heads since the first woman tried to compete with ‘the boys’ in any sport. Men dominate women in most sports. Certainly not all sports but enough of them to raise concerns over men attempting to shove women out of sports entirely.
That is precisely what allowing biological men to compete as women will do to the world of sports. It will effectively destroy all of them in time. Who in their right mind is ever going to choose a biological woman to be on their team when they can have biologically superior she-males instead? Nobody will that’s who. Nobody.
How in any sense of the word is that fair? It’s not fair at all and it cannot be allowed to happen to any woman or man. Not now, not ever.
