TRUMP TO SECRETARY OF STATE “REX,YOU’RE FIRED.”
APPOINTS CIA DIRECTOR, MIKE POMPEO SECRETARY OF STATE. GINA HASPEL NAMED FIRST FEMALE DIRECTOR OF CIA
An undersecretary at the State Department released a statement today, which said that Rex Tillerson did not have an opportunity to speak directly to President Trump prior to his getting the ax tweet.
At the time of this posting, Tillerson still had not yet spoken to Trump so he is unaware yet of the reason for his having been fired. He does, however; indicate that he’s just thankful for the opportunity to serve and that he still believes that public service is, “a noble calling,”
“I didn’t really discuss it with him that much actually. I made the decision by myself. Rex, as you know, wasn’t in this country. I made the North Korea decision with consultation from many people but I made that decision by myself.” President Trump explained to the media at a press conference this morning.
Speaking briefly to reporters this morning before leaving on a scheduled trip to California, President Trump stated that he and Mike Pompeo are “always on the same wavelength” and that they, “have a very similar thought process. I think it’s going to go very well”
“I think Mike Pompeo will be a truly great Secretary of State. I have total confidence in him.” Trump added.
“As far as Rex Tillerson is concerned, “He’s a very good man, I like Rex a lot. I very much appreciate his commitment and his service and I wish him well. He’s a good man, and we’ll be speaking to Rex over a long period of time” The President was quoted as saying. Rex and I have been talking about this for a long time. We got along actually quite well but we disagreed on things,”
“You look at the Iran deal. I think it’s terrible but I wanted to do things differently. So we were not thinking the same.” “I actually got along well with Rex but really it was a different mindset. It was a different thinking,” Trump said, adding. “I think Rex will be happier now.”
” I want to thank Rex Tillerson for his service. A great deal has been accomplished over the last fourteen months, and I wish him and his family well,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House. Meanwhile, on Twitter, the President stated:
“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!”

This is it. The senate is not a screening agency for temporary help. No more senate confirmation hearings for Trump nominees until the Senate Judiciary Committee finishes hearings on whether Trump is fit for office. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-rex-tillerson-out-at-state-dept-cias-pompeo-to-replace-him-live-updates/ … via @CBSPolitics
