By: Charles Ramos Jr.
Greetings sports fans and welcome back for yet another thrilling action-packed episode of Vegas Valley Sports Beat. The crazy little column that is not just an adventure, it’s a job. This episode is being brought to you by generous amounts of caffeine, medical marijuana, and the letters A through Z.
It is another picturesque but swelteringly hot day here in the Las Vegas Valley region but it comes with the territory. We are now just two days away from the first day of September and the daytime temperatures should be cooling off within the next two weeks. I said it ‘should be’ so if they should fail to do so, all I can say is don’t blame me, I ordered global cooling.
That being out of the way let us turn our attention now to Las Vegas and the Latin Grammy Awards which is coming once again to the MGM Grand Gardens Arena on November 14, 2019. This year will mark the 20th anniversary of the annual Latino music award ceremony which the Academy is commemorating by changing the color of its logo, designed by Blanco-Lorenz, from red to platinum.

Latin Recording Academy President and Chief Executive, Gabriel Abaroa Jr explained the reasoning behind the color change in a statement for the record, “In addition to symbolizing successful music sales, and having long, historic ties to Latin America, platinum is known for being a malleable metal, more ductile than gold or silver, and a chemical catalyst.
