You Know Him, You Love Him, You Know You Can’t Get Enough Of Him. Frankie Moreno Is Back Bigger And Better Than Ever!

Greetings and good Saturday morning to you sports fans and welcome back once again to Vegas Valley News. If you’re just tuning in for the first time welcome to Vegas Valley Sports Beat that clever little sports column that thinks it can, it thinks it can, it thinks it can, it thinks it can. But I think I digress. I know I can.

It has just this very minute occurred to me that I have forgotten all about the fourth anniversary of the birth of this column on January 30th, 2017. I guess in all the excitement starting on January 6th through the dregs of yet another terminally boring innuendo festival I forgot all about it.

How great is it then that I remembered in the midst of writing about one of the most amazing young gentlemen I have ever had the privilege to call a brother, the incomparable Frankie Moreno? The undisputed King Of Las Vegas.

It has been an honor to have the privilege to write this column for the past 4 years and 3 weeks, but hands down the best part of doing it’s that I get to meet a lot of amazing people in and around Las Vegas. And Frankie Moreno is a joy to my own heart because he has been a friend of Vegas Valley News ever since I started. I think it’s perfectly fitting that this anniversary column should feature him for that and for so many other reasons that I’ve articulated before. The bottom line is His music gets its life from the man himself because he’s the real deal when it comes to genuine Gold Record Royalty.

I don’t get paid for doing this by choice and I’m certainly not given to buttering anyone up or salving anybody’s ego for ratings that I don’t pay any mind to anyhow. Integrity demands that I tell you the truth and the honest truth is that Frankie isn’t just a class-act, no sir, no ma’am, Frankie’s a natural first-class act and well-worthy of the crown. And I don’t mean just for Las Vegas either.

Frankie Moreno is never to be held up as a contender, or a pretender to Elvis Presley because both men are one-of-a-kind. Frankie Moreno is the natural product of two amazing people who were hip at the sock hop when Elvis was a young man and they instilled the same values and love of good music that Elvis embodied, and that’s a good thing.

If he was alive today, Elvis, God rest his soul, would surely agree there is nothing new under the sun, it’s the soul that makes what it touches unique and beautiful. It also gives the lie to that statement. If it were true, then there would be no record breakers ever, and Frankie is a record-breaker of a #1 hit record-maker.

I’m not sure how many new songs Frankie and the band’s put out over the course of the pandemic lockdown but I do know there are a lot of them because, to be frank with you I lost count a while back. I was going to catch Frankie on New Year’s Eve but my Mom died from Covid and double pneumonia at 6 pm that night. Plus, I’d been exposed to her right before she went into the hospital so I wasn’t going anywhere because I was in self-quarantine for the next month. I’m well, and symptom-free now.

Like everyone else I’ve been living like a hermit and I still am since it all began. The good news is it looks like the lockdown is ending and people are going to be emerging from their caves again. Thank God, and not a moment too soon either. But, again, I digress. All I have to say is, hey Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A., don’t you think it’s high time we return to life again? I do. I can’t wait to see Frankie live again that’s for sure.

Of course, there will have to be certain Covid-based safety restrictions, but good old-fashioned common sense is the key ingredient in prevention, and that’s worth a pound of cure per once. A little goes a long way toward protecting yourself and yours.

I’d be remiss not to mention this so please pay attention to your own body because you know it better than anyone. If you don’t feel well nobody’s going to blame you for staying home and taking care of yourself. 4 out of 5 bosses surveyed agree that you’re no good to anyone dead.

And now a word from the Frankie Moreno Army’s Fearless Leader, the Honorable Mrs. Kathy Cornelius.
