Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational concludes Tuesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women’s golf team shot 20-over-par 596 (9-over 297, 11-over 299) during the first two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Monday and is in 11th place at the tournament, which is being held at UNM’s Championship Course (par 72, 6,317 yards).
Pepperdine holds the team lead at 7-under 569 (280-289), followed by Kent State one shot back at 6-under. Ole Miss is third at 5-under, while San Diego State and Iowa State round out the top five in a tie for fourth at 3-over. There are a total of 15 teams competing.
Individually, Pepperdine’s Alexa Melton is in first place by two shots at 7-under 137 (69-68). Indiana’s Priscilla Schmid, UC Davis’ Rei Nakatani and San Diego State’s Gioia Carpinelli are all tied for second at 5-under.
UNLV was led by freshman Serena Sepersky (77-71), freshman Elina Saksa (74-74) and junior Samantha Fuller (73-75), who are all in a tie for 35th at 4-over. There are a total of 87 golfers competing.

- This is the season opener for the Rebels, also marking the fifth consecutive time they have opened a season at the BLF/DM Invitational.
- UNLV has a new look with just three returners from last year’s roster. Six new faces have joined the 2019-20 squad.
- Prior to the 2018-19 season, UNLV had won three straight Mountain West titles and made a NCAA postseason appearance in 16 consecutive years.
- Head coach Amy Bush-Herzer is in her ninth year at the helm of the program. She has led her team to a conference championship four times.
