Senior guard Kris Clyburn’s layup with 1.4 seconds remaining gives UNLV men’s basketball team victory over MSU Billings

LAS VEGAS ( – Senior guard Kris Clyburn drove the left side of the lane and banked in a layup with 1.4 seconds remaining to give the UNLV men’s basketball team an 83-81 exhibition victory over MSU Billings on Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Four Runnin’ Rebels scored in double figures, including two with double-doubles. Clyburn scored a game-high 17 points, senior forward Shakur Juiston had 16 with 10 rebounds, sophomore forward Mbacke Diong scored 15 points with a game-high 17 rebounds and senior guard Noah Robotham scored 14.

The Yellowjackets were led by Zack Rollins’ game-high 23 points.

BACK AND FORTH: The game featured 15 lead changes and six ties.

STATS OF THE GAME: UNLV outrebounded MSUB 50-31 and scored 54 points in the paint to the Yellowjackets’ 28.

RUNNIN’ REBEL OF THE GAME: With a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds, Diong made 7 of 13 shots and blocked two on the defensive end.

QUOTABLE: “It was an interesting game. We had some adversity to deal with, probably a little bit more than I wanted, but I thought it was good to get a lot of guys playing time and on film so that we can make our assessments. * UNLV has won all four of its exhibition games under Coach Menzies.
* This was UNLV’s only exhibition game of the season.
* The Runnin’ Rebels ended the first half on a 13-0 run over the final 3:51 to take a 35-29 lead at the break.
* MSUB made 13 3-pointers.
