UNLV shoots a 5-under 283 in Tuesday’s final round to finish 1-under for the tournament

LAS VEGAS (  UNLV women’s golf concluded the 17th annual Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Club Tuesday and finished the event strong with its best round of the fall. The Rebels’ 5-under 283 in the final round brought their three-day score to 1-under 863, which was good for sixth place. Oregon State was the wire-to-wire winner at 26-under (838) after a stellar three rounds of 8-under or better.
Sophomore Polly Mack started the day in a tie for 20th at 1-under and had her best round of the event Tuesday – a 2-under 70 – to finish in a tie for 16th at 3-under overall. Senior Elizabeth Prior wasn’t too far behind Mack, finishing in at tie for 21st at even for tournament after also shooting a 2-under in the final round.
Tulsa was the Beaver’s heels heading into the last round, only trailing by two strokes and even overtaking first briefly after the round began, but Oregon State fired back to ultimately best Tulsa by four strokes. Tulsa’s Lorena Tseng did bring home one title for the Golden Hurricanes as Tseng took medalist honors after an impressive 65 to win at 13-under 203.
CO-REBELS OF THE DAY: Mack and Prior combined for eight birdies Tuesday and were the top two performers for the Rebels over the three days.
NEXT UP FOR THE REBELS: The Rebels will be back in action quickly, finishing out their fall slate at the 2018 Jim West Invitational hosted by Texas State University. The two-day tournament begins Sunday in San Antonio
