California native Serena Sepersky and Finland native Elina Saksa sign NLIs to play for UNLV next fall

LAS VEGAS (   UNLV women’s golf has signed two to national letters of intent, head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced Friday. Serena Sepersky, from California, and Elina Saksa from Finland, will join the Rebels next fall.

“We are thrilled that Serena and Elina are now officially Rebels,” said Bush-Herzer. “They both bring a ton of great experience on the national and international levels and I can’t wait to see them out on the course with us next year.”

Sepersky, a decorated junior golfer out of Temecula, California, has earned over 100 victories during her prep career. The four-time VJGA Player of the Year recently earned an American Junior Golf Assocation (AJGA) top-25 ranking and was named an honorable mention selection to the Rolex Golf All-America team. Sepersky is also set to receive the 2018 Toyota Tour Cup Player of the Year award and she has been honored by the AJGA as a selection for the Transamerica Scholastic Honor Roll. Sepersky and her family are no strangers to UNLV as her father played baseball for the Rebels in 1983. She plans on majoring in computer science at UNLV.
Saksa, from Turku, Finland, has been a mainstay on the Finnish Girls’ National Team since 2014, helping her team to a Ladies World Amateur Championship in 2018 and three top-10 finishes at the European Girls’ World Championships. In 2015, Saksa was named the Finnish Player of the Year for the girls under 18 group, then went on to win the 2016 European Young Masters Championship. Most recently, she won the Audi Finnish Tour Order of Merit on the Finnish Ladies Tour in 2018. This year, Saksa was also a member of the Finland’s Olympic team and finished 16th individually at the youth Olympic games. She is undecided on her major at UNLV.
The current Rebels have concluded their fall season and will be back in action Feb. 11-12 at the Battle of Boulder Creek.
