UNLV will play in four Las Vegas-area tournaments, serving as host for two
LAS VEGAS ( – UNLV women’s golf has released its schedule for the upcoming 2019-20 season, head coach Amy Bush-Herzer announced Tuesday.
Highlighting the slate is four Las Vegas-based tournaments, including two where the Rebels will serve as hosts – October’s Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and February’s The Rebel Beach. UNLV will also enter the Battle at Boulder Creek and South Dakota State’s Jackrabbit Invitational as individual participants in the spring.
The 2019-20 squad will feature many new faces as the Rebels lost three to graduation last spring and another to transfer over the summer. Senior Nastasia Kossacky, junior Cathy Liu and sophomore Veronica Joels represent the three returners, while Bush-Herzer has added six newcomers – three transfers and three freshman. The coaching staff also underwent changes as Bush-Herzer welcomed former LPGA player and collegiate All-American Erica Popson as an assistant coach.
For the fifth consecutive year, UNLV will begin its 2019-20 season at New Mexico’s Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, Sept. 9-10, then make its return to the Betsy Rawls Invitational October 12-13 in Austin, Texas. The Rebels did not play in Texas’ home tournament last year after competing in the event every year since 2011-12.
The Scarlet and Gray will get a double dose of Texas as they head back to the Lone Star State for Texas State’s 2019 Jim West tournament, which will take place October 21-22 in San Marcos, Texas.
To wrap up the fall season, the Rebels will be in the comforts of their home city, hosting the 18th annual Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club, October 27-29. UNLV has won the event twice in the last four years and three times overall.

The spring portion of the schedule will open with back-to-back Las Vegas tournaments, with the Battle at Boulder Creek set for Feb. 10-11 and the third annual Rebel Beach Invitational taking place six days later, Feb. 17-19, at Spanish Trail Golf Club. UNLV will conclude the month of February with its first-ever appearance in Wisconsin’s Westbrook Invite, which will take place in Peoria, Arizona, February 23-24.

For the third straight year, the Rebels will play in Arizona’s Wildcat Invite, March 9-10, and the Mountain View Invitational hosted by Kansas State and Missouri, March 20-22, both in Tucson, Arizona. Those that don’t participate in Arizona’s event March 9-10 will play in South Dakota State’s Jackrabbit Invitational as individuals the same days.

March will conclude with a trip to Texas for the third time during the 2019-20 season as the Rebels will play in North Texas’ The Bruzzy in Dallas the 30-31 before finishing out the regular season at Oregon and Colorado’s Silverado Showdown for the third consecutive spring in Napa, California, April 5-7.
After finishing third at the conference championship and missing out on the NCAA tournament last spring, the Rebels will be looking to get back on top at the 2019 Mountain West Championship, which is set for April 20-22 in Rancho Mirage California.
The 2020 NCAA Regionals will take place May 11-13 while the championship event will run from May 22-27 in Tempe, Arizona.
