Greetings once again sports fans and welcome to another sunny Saturday here in lovely Las Vegas, Nevada. Turning our attention now to sports, for a refreshing change of pace, and to Encinitas, California where on Thursday afternoon, police  arrested former NFL tight end, Kellen Winslow Jr.

According to Yahoo Sports, Winslow Jr., was taken into police custody on a count of felony burglary after a neighbor of the alleged victim called to report that she had seen a stranger, who was later identified as Kellen Winslow Jr., walk into the victims trailer.

According to the police report, the woman who reported the incident is a resident of a trailer park populated mostly by senior citizens.

The unidentified woman told ABC 10 News in San Diego that she called police after she watched a man pull into the trailer park in a black Hummer who then walked into her neighbor’s home. When she confronted him, she said the man remained calm and that he explained to her that he was looking for his red dog “Clifford.”

According to police, the man then left the scene after he was confronted by the reporting party. Officers later found a gentleman who fit the woman’s description of the suspect in the area, and they identified him as, Kellen Winslow Junior.

Winslow was then arrested, placed into custody in the county lock up, and charged with at least one count of residential burglary. If, Kellen Junior is convicted he faces a maximum sentence of 6 years in prison

The neighbor told ABC 10 News, “I confronted him and said ‘Hi, can I help you with anything’, “He said, ‘Nope, just looking for my dog.’ I go, ‘What dog?’ and he said, ‘Well it’s a red dog, Clifford.’ and I went, ‘There’s no dog here.’ I said, ‘I’m not comfortable with this, you need to leave.’ and he just stood there and he went, ‘Alright then.'”

Presumably, Winslow Jr., then got back into his vehicle and left the trailer park. But not before the woman took a photograph of the vehicle which she shared with NBC News 7 in San Diego.

NBC 7 also reported that Kellen Winslow Jr., was released 5 hours after being booked in the county jail and that he has a court appearance scheduled for Monday morning presumably for arraignment.

He’s the son of Hall of Fame tight end, and San Diego Chargers icon Kellen Winslow and he grew up in San Diego. Winslow Jr played in the NFL for 9 seasons from 2004-13 and  he was voted into the Pro Bowl representing the Cleveland Browns in 2007.

unnamedFriday Kellen Winslow’s agent, Harvey A. Steinberg, of Springer & Steinberg released a statement to the public which said:

Mr. Winslow emphatically denies committing any burglary. He would have no need to burglarize or steal anything from anyone at a trailer park. He looks forward to being vindicated once this matter is fully investigated and adjudicated through the court system -Harvey A. Steinberg

But this is not Kellen Junior’s first brush with the law. He was accused in 2013 of masturbating in the parking lot of a Target store in New Jersey that charge was never substantiated but Winslow was eventually charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance which was identified as synthetic marijuana, or, Spice as it is labeled by its manufacturer. A District Court judge granted Winslow Jr., a conditional discharge in that incident.
