Yoga community supports global movement to end domestic violence

Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 2018 — Twenty years ago on Valentine’s Day, Eve Ensler’s play, The Vagina Monologues, gave birth to V-Day. V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women and girls (cisgender, transgender and gender non-conforming). Through creative events, V-Day is a catalyst to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.

A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer – Las Vegas Production will be held on Feb 21st, Wednesday, 7pm at Art Square Theatre (1025 S. 1st St). It is a 90-minute performance featuring a collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle. These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels.

Stefanie “Yoga Bunny” Jillian, children’s author and yoga therapist, is spearheading this production. A local yoga teachers from different studios and diverse teaching styles came together in solidarity to be part of the cast. Paul Benedict, Mara Yulo-Austria, Vladimir Lacas, Ashley Wynn, Zeeky Vincent, Shaun Glenn, Scott Amberson and Honey Tejero to name a few.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at artsquaretheatrelv.com. There will be a silent auction and raffle. All proceeds benefit Yoga Haven Las Vegas (yogahavenlv.org), a local nonprofit, providing free yoga programs for victims of domestic violence.
