Thank You Golden Knights

October 1, 2017 our city was brought to our knees by the most horrific tragedy this city has ever had.  We all came together, in a way I have never seen our city come together, to support each other and show our ‘Vegas Strong’ pride in calling Las Vegas, NV home.  It was a time that we were needing to be led by someone or something that we all could put our hearts into and come together as a community.  Being that most of us have moved here from all around America and Canada, it only made sense that our heroes also came from all over.  For the next 8 months, the Las Vegas Golden Knights helped us to keep our city pride at an all time high.  The last time that we have seen our city come together to support a team like this was when UNLV won the NCAA Championship in 1990 – 91.

Before I go on, I do have to admit that I did not become an extreme fan of our Golden Knights until they had their eyes on the playoffs.  This was mostly because I was so stoked about Electric Daisy Carnival coming.  Although I did not get to watch many of the games, I did listen to them while out Ubering around Las Vegas.  Along with many others, I made sure to have my Golden Knights flags on my car to support the team.  Although, I was only able to attend one game this season, they have definitely made me a fan and I hope to catch more next season.  Maybe my sister and her family will come from Boston to see a game?

To help build the Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect within our community, I made about 60 raver bracelets to pass out to Uber passengers and even mail to friends around the country.  One of the best days was when I was driving down Sahara and saw the Golden Knights Merch Booth and Cheerleaders out front of NV Energy.  I made sure to stop and ask them if any of them were going to EDC.  They said there were a couple teammates who were so I gave them a couple of these.  Another FAVORITE UBER MOMENT was picking up a Golden Knights player to give him and a guy from Winnipeg a ride home.  I promised him that I would not say which player it was.

Another highlight of this season was joining in the celebration with everyone in front of T-Mobile at Toshiba Plaza as we beat out the Los Angeles Kings & San Jose Sharks.  At these celebrations, I also passed out more of these bracelets.  Even made about 15 of them which said ‘Thank U LVMPD’ to hopefully let Metro know that they are appreciated in everything they have done to help us recover and to prevent any other tragedies from occurring.  Maybe that is why I have been able to have my windows down and volume all the way up blasting the Golden Knights playlist which I made on Spotify. Loved playing the soundtrack to ‘Rudy’ and chanting Fleury, Fleury, Fleury. Below, I have listed a few of the songs which I played most frequently:

  • We Will Rock You- Queen
  • We are The Champions – Queen
  • Champions – Kevin Rudolph
  • We Made It – Busta Rhymes
  • Vegas – Alvaro, Lil Jon
  • Started from the Bottom – Drake
  • Livin on a Prayer – Bon Jovi
  • Don’t Stop Believin – Journey
  • Without You – Avicii
  • Believer – Imagine Dragons
  • We’ll Be Coming Back – Calvin Harris
  • The Hockey Song – Stompin’ Tom Connors
  • Rudy Soundtrack
  • Vegas Nights – J. Diggs
  • A Town Called Paradise – Tiesto
  • Nights – Avicii

In the series against Washington, D.C. I did have to play ‘Nights’ by Avicii because I believe without him even knowing it, it was for our Vegas’ Golden Knights.  Read these lyrics:

Once upon a younger year,
When all our shadows disappeared,
The animals inside came out to play.
Went face to face with all our fears,
Learned our lessons through the tears,
Made memories we knew would never fade.

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away.”
He took me in his arms, I heard him say,

“When you get older
Your wild heart will live for younger days.
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind.
So, live a life you will remember.”
My father told me when I was just a child,
“These are the KNIGHTS that never die.”
My father told me,

“When thunder clouds start pouring down
Light a fire they can’t put out,
Carve your name into those shining stars.”
He said, “Go venture far beyond the shores.
Don’t forsake this life of yours.
I’ll guide you home no matter where you are.”

One day my father—he told me,
“Son, don’t let it slip away.”
When I was just a kid I heard him say,

“When you get older
Your wild heart will live for younger days.
Think of me if ever you’re afraid.”

He said, “One day you’ll leave this world behind.
So, live a life you will remember.”

My father told me when I was just a child
“These are the KNIGHTS that never die.”

My father told me,

“These are the KNIGHTS that never die.”
My father told me.
My father told me.

Thank You Golden Knights and Las Vegas for coming together and showing America that, in addition to being Sin City, we are also a community that truly care about each other and are very welcoming to anyone moving here to share in our ‘Vegas Strong’ pride!!!

I am a Creative Warrior in Las Vegas who is helping to protect the West Coast from Adultitis! Adultitis is a plague which often leads to feelings of Loneliness, Failure, etc. Just like myself, these feelings can then lead to worse. I believe that to overcome this plague, we must go back to basics and find joy in which we used to. Many people use to refer to Vegas as Disney for Adults but lately it feels as though we may be moving away from this. I say that it is Time to Relax, Have Fun, and Feel Young Again! Ask About My Nocturnal Vegas Game Plan, especially Vegas Themed Fantasy Parties and Transportation! My sister said it best when she told me how much she disliked Vegas when she lived here in the 90s. She told me, 'Vegas was boring with nothing much to do besides gamble or nightclubs. It is an entirely different place these days' Message Me to Find Out for Yourself! - Troy - 702.981.1739
